Snorkeling is as easy as floating in the water. Individuals with little or no swimming experience are able to snorkel by simply donning a mask with an attached snorkel along with fins and you’re ready for a wonderful underwater experience.
Find a calm beach area with some reef nearby to practice your breathing and floating techniques. Breathing through a snorkel may take a little getting used to so you may find it easier to practice your breathing technique before you put your face in the ocean. Stay focused on inhaling slowly and exhaling slowly. This process will keep you calm and allow you to get acclimated to the new underwater environment you will be experiencing. By practicing a relaxed breathing technique prior to putting your face in the water your confidence level will rise and your entire body will also be more relaxed thus allowing you to float on top of the ocean’s surface with ease.
